Public-Private Partnership Supports Redesign of Wave Wind Website
March 5, 2009
Wave Wind recently launched a redesigned version of its website, www.wavewind-energy.com. Our new website was funded in part by the Wisconsin Focus on Energy, offering an example of how a well-designed public-private partnership can help smooth the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
Wisconsin Focus on Energy is a state program administered by the Department of Administration's Division of Energy and funded, in part, by investor-owned utilities operating in Wisconsin. Its mission is to provide efficiency and renewable energy information, technical assistance, grants and tax credits, and other services to residents, businesses, institutions, and local governments in the state of Wisconsin.
One program administered by Wisconsin Focus on Energy is the Business & Marketing grant program. This program offers financial support to renewable energy businesses and organizations interested in developing business skills and marketing materials, including business plans, websites, original research, and more.
When Wave Wind decided to redesign our website, we selected Autonomous Mind Consulting, a marketing and communications firm based in Madison, Wisconsin, to help us secure a Business & Marketing grant. Autonomous Mind Consulting then redesigned our website, with the costs for its services partially covered by the grant.
According to Dionne Lummus, Business Development Coordinator for Wave Wind and manager of the website redesign project, the funding from Wisconsin Focus on Energy "was a dual-purpose investment by the state of Wisconsin."
First, it helped Wave Wind enhance its online marketing reach and provided a foundation for growing its business. Second, it supported Autonomous Mind Consulting, which is committed to providing business planning and marketing communications services to the many small businesses upon which the success of the renewable energy market depends.
"In the end, funding from Wisconsin Focus on Energy helped two companies, not just one," explains Lummus. "In fact, by helping both Wave Wind and Autonomous Mind Consulting grow in Wisconsin and beyond, the grant will continue to benefit consumers and businesses who stand to gain, directly or indirectly, from the success of our two companies."
